How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Metal Beard Shape

Growing a metal beard will take time and dedication, but it’ll totally be worth it in the end. Here is how.

1. Grow A Long Beard

The typical look of a metal rocker is a long beard and generally long hair or a bald look to go with it. The defining characteristic is the length, so we aim for a beard at least three inches long or more (even up to eight inches for some performers!) Taking daily supplements will help you grow a rich, full beard from the start.

2. Brush The Beard Daily

As you are growing out your beard, it’s important that you take care of it. We want a wild, rockin’ look, but that doesn’t mean your beard should be hard and flaky. Use beard butter and a brush to keep your hair hydrated and smooth throughout the tour. We recommend lathering your beard with butter and then brushing it at least twice a day.

3. Style Or Wild? It’s Your Choice.

Whether you style your beard like Kerry King or let it run wild like Scott Ian is up to you. If you are going for an unruly look, you don’t have to do much other than just let it grow. However, if the style is more your thing, you should consider keeping it trimmed up and groomed. You can even consider adding braiding or hair ties for a unique effect.

4. Take Care Of That Hair

The final step you want to do is to ensure you are taking care of your facial hair. Shampoo your beard daily so that it gets the nutrients that it needs. Then use a beard softener formula to loosen up the facial hairs so that it remains soft to the touch, regardless of how unruly you let it go.
