How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Heavy Stubble Beard
Achieving the heavy stubble beard look is probably the easiest beard style to achieve and maintain. Follow these simple steps to get healthy stubble.
1. If you are starting from a clean-shaven face, let your beard hair grow for about a week.
Heavy stubble is somewhere in the 0.25-0.5 inch range, which should take about a week to achieve for most men. If you already have a beard, simply use your trimmer with a #2 or #3 guard to trim it up.
2. Maintain your stubble by keeping it trimmed up.
There’s a fine line between an intentional 5 o’clock shadow and looking like you just forgot to shave for a while. Keep your stubble in check by using your trimmer with one of the lowest guards (usually a 0 or 1) every 2-3 days.
3. Keep your hair and skin healthy with a good skincare routine.
Make sure to cleanse your face daily with a facial cleanser and use a moisturizer to prevent itchy, dry skin. Follow up with this beard scruff tamer to keep your stubble feeling soft.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect [TYPE]:

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Sparrow Beard
Going as Jack Sparrow for Halloween? Or maybe you just really love pirates? Follow these steps and you, too, can look as cool as Johnny Depp!
1. Start growing out your beard hair.
You’ll need at least 5-6 inches of hair before you can start braiding the ends, so this look will take a while to fully achieve. To speed up the growth process and ensure healthy facial hair, add some growth supplements to your daily vitamin routine.
2. Shape your beard.
Once you have a few inches of growth, you can begin to shape your beard. Use your trimmer or a razor to shave your cheeks and sideburns down to your jawline. You should also remove most of the hair on your neck. Leave the mustache, allowing the ends to point downward on either side of your mouth. If you’re using a safety razor, be sure to use a shave lube to get a close shave that is free from cuts.
3. Trim out the soul patch.
Use a thin attachment on your trimmer to create the soul patch. To do this, remove the hair just below your lip, but only on the sides, leaving about an inch in the middle.
4. Braid your chin hair.
Once you have enough length on your chin, split the hair into two sections and braid each section. Run some beard butter through your facial hair first, and then split the first section into three smaller sections, wrapping one section over the other all the way down. Finish off with a decorative bead if you’d like. Then do the same thing with the second section.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect Sparrow beard:

- Shave Lube: for a close shave and to prevent cuts.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Stubble Mustache
The stubble mustache is becoming popular with the younger generation. It’s a trendy look that’s easy to achieve and maintain. Follow these steps to get the look.
1. Decide if you want to keep a stubble beard with your mustache or not.
The stubble mustache can look great either with or without a stubble beard. If you decide to sport only the mustache, you’ll need to shave the rest of your facial hair. To get a close shave and prevent razor burn, use a shave lube and a safety razor.
2. Trim your mustache.
A stubble mustache should be short. Use a 2mm or 4mm guard on your trimmer to even out the length of your ‘stache.
3. Develop a good skincare routine.
Be sure to take good care of your skin to prevent dryness, flakiness, or acne. Use a facial cleanser like Tough Scrub to eliminate dirt and oil and prevent clogged pores. Finish off with a beard scruff tamer that is great for short beards, stubble, and scruff.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect stubble mustache:
- Wild Willies Shave Lube: to get a close shave and prevent razor burn.
- Tough Scrub: to cleanse your face.
- Beard Scruff Tamer: to moisturize and soften your face and stubble.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Lampshade Mustache Shape
Growing a lampshade mustache is pretty straightforward. Follow these steps to grow one out yourself.
1. Grow Out Your Mustache
First, you will need to grow a nice mustache, to begin. Taking daily beard supplements will help in this process, as they’re great for promoting hair growth. Your hair should be somewhat larger since the lampshade mustache needs to have an adequate amount to cover your upper lip region. We recommend at least half an inch or more in length.
2. Trim And Style The Mustache
Next, you must trim and style the mustache into what resembles a lampshade. That means the hairs should be more narrow near the top by the nose and taper downwards as it gets to the lips. If you pick up a good grooming kit, you can use scissors, a comb, and a beard-shaping tool to get the right look. Use the scissors and comb to get the hair to an even length. Then you can hold the beard-shaping tool at a 45-degree angle from your nose to your lips and trim the beard along the edge. This will give you a nice straight line to go off of.
3. Groom The Rest Of The Face
Finally, you must finish grooming the rest of the hairs on your face. You can wear a beard with the lampshade mustache or shave your face for a clean look. The main thing to remember is that the mustache should be the show's star. You should keep it moisturized and soft by using beard oil daily and then brushing it out.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect lampshade mustache:
- Beard Growth Supplements: Contains all-natural ingredients your facial hair needs to grow thick and long.
- The Expert Grooming Kit: Has scissors, a comb, a brush, a razor, and a beard-shaping tool to get the perfect lampshade mustache.
- Beard Oil - Mint: This oil will keep your mustache hydrated and moisturized so that it doesn’t become too hard or brittle.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Hipster Mustache
A hipster mustache is thick and typically flares out at the ends, similar to a handlebar mustache but less pronounced. Follow these steps to master the look.
1. Grow out a thick, healthy mustache.
Focus on growing a mustache that is thick and healthy. Add some growth gummies and a beard growth serum to your daily routine to encourage thick, healthy growth. You can also use a derma roller on your mustache in the early days to increase the absorption of the growth serum.
2. Flare out the ends of your mustache.
The telltale sign of a hipster mustache is flared ends. You can achieve this look by using a beard butter and comb to brush your mustache's tips outward.
3. Decide what to do with your beard.
What you choose to do with your beard is totally up to you. You can shave it completely, leave a little bit of stubble, or add a soul patch or goatee. If you’re starting from scratch, you might choose a progression and start with stubble, gradually working your way up to a goatee.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect hipster mustache.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Military Mustache Shape
The military mustache will put you in command at any event you attend. Here is how to grow one out.
1. Grow Out The Mustache
The first thing you must do is grow out a decently-sized mustache. Typically this style is kept short, so you only need to grow it to about an inch or less. We recommend growing it a little longer than you want it to be so that all of the hairs are even when you trim it. As it grows out, you can use a beard scruff tamer to keep it feeling smooth and soft.
2. Trim And Style
Next, you will want to trim and style the military mustache. Generally speaking, they are a little wider than some mustaches. The hair should start at the bottom of your top lip and extend upwards to the bottom of the nose. Hair on either side of the mouth usually does not pass the middle line of the lips. Grab yourself a grooming kit and use the scissors and comb that is included to cut away unwanted hair. Pass the hair through the comb and use the scissors to snip off the ends. Then cut straight lines at the lips and sides of the mustache to clean it up.
3. Shave Unwanted Hair
Finally, you will need to shave off the rest of the facial hair on your face. The mustache is the centerpiece, so you shouldn’t have a beard. Use the razor you got from the grooming kit and quality shave lube. Wet your face with warm water, lather it up with the lube, shave around the mustache, and then finish with cold water or an aftershave.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect military mustache:
- Beard Scruff Tamer: Great for keeping your short hair nourished and feeling soft as it begins to grow out.
- The Expert Grooming Kit: Contains everything you need to groom and style your mustache, including scissors, a razor, a comb, a brush, and a beard-shaping tool.
- Shave Lube: Professional-grade shaving lube designed to keep your skin healthy and smooth.
